Alpine Electronics Offers a Full Assortment of Drive Assist Products

Back January 7, 2014

Wide lineup includes seven camera systems

Torrance, Calif. (Jan. 7, 2014) – Showing its ongoing commitment to the drive assist category, Alpine Electronics of America, Inc. today unveiled a new rear view camera system at the 2014 International CES, held Jan. 7-10 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The new HCE-C125 joins an already robust lineup of drive assist products offered by the company.

Alpine’s 2014 drive assist lineup consists of seven camera systems and a parking assist sensor. The new HCE-C125 is a rear view camera system that can accommodate a composite video input or an Alpine direct camera input, so it works with Alpine in-dash screens or screens from other manufacturers. The HCE-C125 offers better reproduction of color resolution and improved performance in low light conditions compared to its predecessors. It also has a smaller power supply than previous models, for more flexible installation options.

“The drive assist category is very important to Alpine and we are committed to providing products that help drivers feel more confident on the road,” said Steve Crawford, vice president and general manager, aftermarket business unit, Alpine Electronics of America, Inc.

The entire drive assist lineup features camera systems that fit various driving needs. The HCE-C210RD multi-view rear camera system has four viewing modes: Rear View for backing into tight parking spaces; Ground View for seeing the area directly under the camera to help with connecting to a tow hitch; Corner View for identifying approaching objects when backing out of a parking space; and Panorama View for seeing the entire driveway when backing out. The HCE-C305R Active View® rear camera system comes with the same four viewing modes, plus it detects moving objects behind the vehicle by providing audible and visual warnings.

Also available is the VPX-B104R Visual Parking Assist Sensor System (VPASS), to be used when backing into a parking space. When combined with an Alpine camera system, the parking space is projected on the in-dash screen and a three-color grid (red/yellow/green) is overlaid onto the lines of the parking space in nine zones (three each to the rear, rear left and rear right). If an object is detected in any of the zones, the grid is highlighted and audible warnings are emitted.

Alpine camera systems can be used with Alpine’s AV (audio/video) head units and AVN (audio/video/ navigation) systems; some of the camera systems are compatible with non-Alpine screens.
