New Drive Assist Products Available from Alpine Electronics

The newest systems from Alpine offer enhanced safety solutions

Torrance, Calif. (Jan. 10, 2012) – Alpine Electronics of America, Inc. is working to increase driver safety through the expansion of its drive assist product line. Alpine will introduce seven new industry-leading drive assist solutions at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Jan. 10 -13, 2012 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

“Camera systems and other drive assist products are frequently requested by consumers,” said Steve Crawford, vice president and general manager, aftermarket business unit, Alpine Electronics of America, Inc. “Alpine is fully committed to growing this category, and we have an in-house research and development center where we test these products for continual improvement and advancements.”

Alpine’s camera systems range from the entry level HCE-C104 rear view camera; to the HCE-C212F and HCE-210RD front and rear cameras with multiple viewing modes; up to the HCE-C305R ActiveView™ rear camera system which detects moving objects behind the vehicle by providing audible and visual warnings.

One new product is the VPX-B104R VPASS (Visual Parking Assist Sensor System). The VPX-B104R sensor system utilizes four OEM-grade ultrasonic reverse sensors for parking that are installed in the vehicle’s rear bumper. When used in conjunction with an Alpine camera system, the VPASS system helps guide the driver when backing into a parking space. When the parking space is viewed on the in-dash screen, a three-color grid (red/yellow/green) is overlaid onto the lines of the parking space in nine zones (three each to the rear, rear left and rear right). If an object is detected in any of the zones, the grid is highlighted and audible warnings are emitted. Precise distance measurement behind the vehicle is also displayed, for additional peace-of-mind for the driver.

Alpine camera systems work with Alpine’s AV (audio-video) head units, AVN (audio-video-navigation) systems or in-dash monitors (all sold separately); some camera systems are compatible with non-Alpine screens.
